Ten things that make me happy!

Happiness. What is it? The web defines it as; a state of well-being characterized by emotions ranging from contentment to intense joy. So, of course we can create happiness, create more of such situations to feel happy and content. I also tried to list down the things that make me happy, not in any particular order though. Initially, it was difficult and when I started putting them down…I felt, Oh! This is a hobby, these are my interests, things I like – And I realize that our interests are directly proportional to happiness and that we should do more of such things that brings us joy. There’s NO BIG THUMB RULE to attain happiness – it’s simple things we do, that elevates our state of mind.

  1. Connecting with God, my prayer times…
  2. Spending time with my loved ones, my friends, my family and playing with my little niece :-)
  3. Visitng Crafts fair, Kitsch Mandi, exploring innovative, creative stuff and of course collecting them
  4. Setting up interiors at home, returning to a well set-up home after a tiring day really really fills my mind with happiness and joy
  5. Good food, holidays, vacations, travel, meeting and interacting with new people
  6. I love to spend endless hours in and around nature – beautiful landscapes, lots of greenery, nature trails and the set of plants which I own at home
  7. Being at Spa ;-)
  8. Exercising – I really feel happy, when I am fit, especially the feeling right after the work out – I feel so refreshed and charged up
  9. Cooking, and baking for my loved ones
  10. Helping someone with whatever I can, or being the cause of someone’s happiness

And yes, a quote that I believe in strongly…. “The happiest people are those who think the most interesting thoughts. Those who decide to use leisure as a means of mental development, who love good music, good books, good pictures, good company, good conversation, are the happiest people in the world. And they are not only happy in themselves, they are the cause of happiness in others.” ~ William Phelps.

Life – An ongoing battle

Life is an ongoing battle. A constant battle of thoughts, emotions, & conscience. The only way I see we can conquer o’er it is attaining spirituality, peace of mind and self-resilience in life. It’s very important to set our minds free from insignificant things/thoughts in life, and in these contemporary times, no other aid would ease our discomfort than I believe it does while connecting with God.

Ramzaan!

Today as the fine line of moon is sighted; all over the world there is excitement to celebrate Eid tomorrow. In Arabic Eid means festivity. It’s believed that the Holy book “Quran” was revealed during this month to Prophet (Peace Be Upon Him). Today it also marks the end of fasting that Muslims observe over a month during this period… Throughout the day from dawn they refrain from food and water & break it only at dusk. It allows, Muslims to practice self-discipline, sacrifice and most importantly empathy for those who are less fortunate. It further enables more endurance & spirituality over human mind, body & soul. Although it is customary, but during this month Muslims devote to God completely and seek absolution by means of offering special prayers, reading the holy book & giving alms to the poor and needy ones. Each festival is sanctified in its own sweet way and so is Eid. It’s even sweeter with the meethi siwai (a sweet dish) that’s so popular across all religions during this festive season :) !!!

God bless one and all as they celebrate Eid with their family and loved ones!!

Festive Season

Well, it’s festive season everywhere as the holy month of Ramzaan and Ganesh Chaturthi being celebrated with immense devotion and spirits all over the country…. Any religion; be it Islam, Hinduism, Christianity, Sikhism, Jainism, Buddhism…all it teaches is a way of life, a way of leading a sacred and disciplined life, without harming or hurting others feelings or sentiments . Prayers, fasts and other righteous means of practicing one’s religion is an absolute way to connect with God for peace, solidarity and prosperity not just for self, but family, peers and everyone else on earth!

Here’s wishing all a very happy and peaceful festive season!!

God Bless!

From Ecclesiastes:

For everything there is a season, And a time for every matter under heaven:

A time to be born, and a time to die;
A time to plant, and a time to pluck up what is planted;
A time to kill, and a time to heal;
A time to break down, and a time to build up;
A time to weep, and a time to laugh;
A time to mourn, and a time to dance;
A time to throw away stones, and a time to gather stones together;
A time to embrace, And a time to refrain from embracing;
A time to seek, and a time to lose;
A time to keep, and a time to throw away;
A time to tear, and a time to sew;
A time to keep silence, and a time to speak;
A time to love, and a time to hate,
A time for war, and a time for peace.

God Almighty

Life brings thy to a stage where all’s nothing but despair,
nevertheless, there’s hope and belief in each prayer…
hope that empowers thy faith, hope that gives thy strength,
the strength to love all & conviction to forgive all!

Seldom in life as we stumble & fall,
It’s He who guards us, and elevates us high,
He is omnipresent, He is Divine.
He makes sure that all’s fine!

With every daybreak, and every twilight,
We pray and thank, for the brightness in our lives…
With folded hands and hopeful eyes,
All we yearn for …is His blessings in disguise!
