To be very candid, I was never a tea person and preferred only occasionally when it rained heavily or it was cold, or may be with hot fritters or when I felt like having a cup of chai just like that
…but of late I have started enjoying it like never before in a BIG mug sipping the hot brewed tea…(may be my bong instinct
)… Trust me, it’s so revitalizing. Some prefer it strong; some prefer it sweet and milky. Some like plain tea, while some prefer ginger tea or masala chai. I prefer my tea very light, brewed strongly with crushed ginger & a little tint of milk & almost negligible sugar. If served with spongy tea-cakes or cookies I would simply be delighted. At breakfast I have it usually with a buttered toast or a croissant…and it is a super energizer for the rest of my day!!
Tea, if had in nominal capacity is not injurious, but if someone gets addicted it’s dangerous due to it’s caffeine content, though it’s comparatively less than coffee. We at home have always been loyal to our old brand Brooke Bond, my mom says it gives a very good liqueur
. However, I also like Taj Mahal chai which adds a distinct taste to my penchant for tea. With changing times and to cater to tea-fanatics’ altering tastes like me
we find an assortment of flavours and kinds of tea these days. Green Tea seemingly is very good for the stressed mind and body and is not harmful due to it’s antioxidant properties. I prefer it having after a rich meal and it surely makes me feel lighter!!!

Well, today morning for a change cooked myself a nice cheese omlette topped with butter
ofcourse along with my favourite adraki chai

I am fond of tea as well but not addicted to it. I’d do with a cup or two a day max. Green tea is really good for health, also got anti carcinogen properties I believe. We get all brands of teas from India here in stores but I have also found some regional ones really nice, for example, tea grown in Cameron Highlands of Malaysia. Many years back I had been to a tea plantation there and visited a tea processing plant as well as the tea gardens. Very similar to the ones we have in the Nilgiri mountains. Cameron Highland blends are delightfully light, am sure you’d like it. But of course, you Bongs are probably spoilt on all that wonderful Darjeeling tea!

Yes, have traveled really far and wide and some important tea growing countries and also visited plantations there such as the one in Nuwara Eliya mountains central Sri lanka and that was marvelous too. Cameron highlands was another really enjoyable trip not only because of the plantation and the factory but also for the architecture of the town. Most buildings have a swiss alps type of buildings and kind of European flavor, in the heart of Malaysia! Been to a few in India but that was a really long time ago except Ooty that I went to 5 years ago. Cheers for your nice cuppa tea!

My philosophy was (as is) that when one travels, one learns a lot. Otherwise we are like a frog in the well and think we know everything. When we see the rest of the World, it is a revelation, if gazed upon with dispassionate eyes and non judgemental about things. The minute we start comparing things, we lose the plot. This is the aspect of travel I find most alluring, the opportunity to learn so much. All the best in your travel plans and hope you have good experiences.
