This is first of its kind that I have read so far. A beautiful illustration of life’s plight. It has left me spellbound reading through the difficulties one can go through in life and still remain unruffled and ignorant. Hori, one of the characters in the book has set a stunning example of the same. From the beginning to the end, he has had only sufferings on his platter, but he has moved on, he was a strong man by his virtues. Each to their own, but my inference was an insight to all the chapters of life has been set in this piece of literature. Hori’s biggest demeanor was that of forgiving… irrespective of the sins his own people structured for him …he chose to shower mercy and kindness towards his kin… For instance, he had forgiven his own brother who killed the cow, the one that the family brought in with so much hope and affection. ……the one that they thought would uplift their misery but… post its death fetched only more pain and trauma to Hori and his family.

The story is primarily set in the backdrop of one of the rural areas in Northern India, which introduces to a variety of people both rich, poor, educated professionals…farmers, landlords, doctors, professors etc. It essays their characters very well, and also takes you through various elements of relationships, rural culture beliefs, and their customs.

There were several times, when certain phrases in the book actually conveyed and taught you lessons from the practical life which is really worth an appreciation. For instance, “The more we sacrifice, the stronger the desire for domination; and when we are suddenly faced with rebellion, we become frustrated and that dedication changes to retaliation.”

It signifies that one can actually derive experiences from each incident in our respective lives and still move on.

My second theater experience in Hyderabad. It was quite an exhilarating one, funny and well performed.

I don’t wish to become an aspiring artiste or something out of this workshop but the reason I want to get enrolled is to explore & get to know the technicalities of this art and have a better understanding. Somehow I am quite fascinated towards learning and experiencing new things, and what better could it be than Art itself. “You need to know why you appreciating or disregarding a performance/play” – was quoted by Mr Bajaj, one of the eminent theater personalities there…during the inauguration ceremony. Typically, we go to kill our time and entertain ourselves and just come out saying good or bad about it…without even realizing the efforts that each one of them put through…it’s about acknowledging that…and much more.

She looked into his eyes, and saw the innocence that enveloped. He was fuming with anger, and at the same time he was being apologetic of his behavior. She reeled back thinking of the fight they had in the morning, when all the time Mohak screamed and Piya holding his hands tried to take control of the situation…and make him realize it was too small a thing to over-react. They fought over a minor issue that day. Her thoughts were stirred for a moment when the attendant brought over two Iced Tea that they had ordered at the café`. Mohak was still buzzing about it when Pia silently said “I love you” into his ears, and Mohak smiled and said “I love you too”!

That’s the fundamental essence of love – an unconditional emotion. It makes you more forgiving, calm and selfless by nature. It gives you more power to endure any pain & makes you more tolerant.

It was the month of August, when heavy rains had hindered the mobility of the people in the city. It rained incessantly for 3 days. The clouds were still floating around and Raghu was worried. He wasn’t able to go to the hospital as commuting became highly impossible due to knee deep water everywhere. No other transport was accessible. His father was admitted due to some medical emergency. He sat back at home looking helplessly outside the window at the rainfall. It was only through calls at the hospital board line… that he could check his father’s progress each time. His mom grieved at the other end. Each incoming call from the hospital would rip their nerve apart. They could do nothing but pray…pray for Raghu’s father’s well-being.

Next day, the prayers were answered, and the clouds cleared. There was an insignificant dash of sunlight pouring in…and the water had percolated enough to give way to a new life…a life after so much natural disaster. So many lives & property were lost all across. Raghu was all set to leave for the hospital with his mom when the phone rang…and the other side the Nurse said…”I am sorry Raghu, but your father….”

A decade passed by and he never heard from her. He had moved to a new place now where he lived alone. Neer sulked for a few months when they separated. He thought that in this life he is never going to fall in love again… not at least after he lost Nandini. There was no point in analyzing what went wrong between them, who was responsible, how could it be saved etc. etc.  In due course of the time… all came to an end. Everything was lost.

It was a pleasant morning that day and Neer had recently shifted to his new apartment. The view was spectacular from his terrace. The sun rose at its own pace, spreading its radiance around. The dew drops were scintillating on the bed of roses. The air was cool and the breeze swayed the twigs and flowers. Neer sat down by the terrace and started reminiscing his old days… sweet old days when he and Nandini were together. He liked everything about Nandini, her eyes, her long lustrous hair, her sweet smile…the way she conversed hysterically. Time used to fly whenever they were together. He remembered how she fought with him innocently and then said sorry. She was a wonderful person too who had no ego or qualms whatsoever. It was tough to live without her but not impossible. His thoughts were suddenly interrupted, when he saw someone resembling Nandini on the opposite side of the terrace…

* you fight and still want to get back to him/her no matter what…!

* you fight with him/her and nothing seems to be good around you…

* you simply don’t think twice, to say sorry to him/her…

My wish list…

• Camping and mountain climbing…
• A long walk while it’s raining heavily…
• Living in a cottage by the side of a river , surrounded by mountains and greenery all over.
• River Rafting at shivpuri near Hrishikesh…with the highest current of water flowing…

* A cruise to an unknown destination…

  * Have my own adorable library with a calm reading zone by the side of french window which opens up to a spectacular view.

* A walk over the carpet of moonlight spread over the river bank while the jewel studded river singing softly.

Would keep updating as and when I come up with more ;-)

A plunge into this water in a hot summer would be so cooooool…!
