THE CONSTITUTION OF INDIA
Preamble
WE, THE PEOPLE OF INDIA, having solemnly resolved to constitute India into a [SOVEREIGN SOCIALIST SECULAR DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC] and to secure to all its citizens:
JUSTICE, social, economic and political;
LIBERTY of thought, expression, belief, faith and worship;
EQUALITY of status and of opportunity;
and to promote among them all
FRATERNITY assuring the dignity of the individual and the [unity and integrity of the Nation]; IN OUR CONSTITUENT ASSEMBLY this twenty-sixth day of November, 1949, do HEREBY ADOPT, ENACT AND GIVE TO OURSELVES THIS CONSTITUTION.
Are we strictly following the above lines….??? Sovereignty and Democracy I may agree to an extent but socialism and secularism is a far cry in our country. People are still questioned on the grounds of caste, creed or sex.. So many social issues like, trafficking, child abuse, women assault, uneducation, poverty, are yet to be resolved. It takes ages to fight for justice in our courts that too after several torture and torments inflicted on the victims. Human beings are killed or burnt alive in the name of religion. Of late the bomb blasts that has scared the whole nation with its impact on innocent men, women and children in the name of terrorism.
There’s no denying the fact that India has come a long way since 15th August 1947 economically and on the global front…but the progress has been only on a superficial level…at a grassroot level there’s still so much to do…so much pain and agony for several people. All of us as responsible citizens must stand up for a cause and work towards a healthy living to make it actually possible as per our framed constitution.
